Partridge Brahma’s

Partridge Brahmas

Partridge is one of the oldest and most recognizable Brahma varieties. Hens show a refined penciled pattern over a warm golden or chestnut ground, while cocks display striking contrast with red shoulders, golden hackles, and a dark breast and tail.

The penciling in hens arises from the interaction of Pg (Pattern), Ml (Melanotic), and Db (Dark brown) on the wild-type base e⁺. At Wolfhoeve we work with the classic Partridge as well as rarer variants: Blue Partridge, Splash Partridge, and Isabel Partridge. Our focus is on type, feather quality, and crisp, readable penciling.

Note: In Dutch poultry terminology, Brahmas with this double-penciled pattern are referred to as Meerzomig Patrijs.

Terminology note: Dutch breeders use Meerzomig Patrijs for Brahmas with the double-penciled partridge pattern.

At Wolfhoeve we preserve and refine these lines – classic Partridge and the rarer Blue, Splash, and Isabel – with an emphasis on type, feather quality, and clean, readable penciling.
